| When it hits a magazine like Maxim, you know something's happening! |

seriously, by the time living off-the-grid hits magazines that focus on beer and babes, you have to admit that we have turned a corner on the mainstreaming of sustainability. And that's just what happened this month in leading "men's magazine" Maxim. Sure, it's obnoxious (many jokes about 'your sister'), and very green-lite. But they do cover all the basics you'll need to know in their article How To Live Off The Grid. And while I can't say I'm familiar with this magazine, I am certain that they have a different readership than say, EarthIsland or MotherEarth News, right? So if a bunch of Frat boys decide to take their omega house off the grid, its a win-win right? Two cheers for Maxim (they don't get three cheers from me if they print on virgin forest pulp, sorry) |
