DIY Electric
EVette
I was just thinking about John Shaeffer's electric Porsche, and the link to that DIY electric motorcycle, and thought, well who are the grandaddys of electric conversions? Why it's Northern California's Electro Automotive! Yes! They are the guys who turned Mr. Real Good's Porsche into an electric (Sure it's a 914, but still...).

I was just yammering on over at treehugger with some people who are goo-gooing and ga-gaing and drooling over this 3-wheeled volkswagon (which is basically a motorcycle in a weird car-shell). And it dawned on me, instead of spending $20-50,000 on a gasoline vehicle (sure it was in treehugger because it gets 43 MPG, big whoop!) what else could you do with that amount of $$$ and I realized that one could buy a cool 70's car, and then convert it to electrism. Not only would you be under $10K but with the leftovers you could buy a few solar panels and either feed in to the grid to offset your electrical needs, or solar power your charger and then have (virtually) zero emissions, and get around in style...
