Toto, I think we are in kansas still
In Lawrence Kansas, Plans for a $75 million sewer plant considered crucial for future community growth may be delayed while city leaders learn all about living machines
LMLM

“I think it would be easier on the river and the environment,” said Tom Bracciano, a member of the Public Advisory Committee and facilities planning director for the Lawrence school district. “Anytime you can use a natural approach, that’s good.” they are actually going ahead with this! Makes me so happy!

John "new alchemist" Todd coined the term (as well as deigned the original living machines) at this point the living machines are mainly water cleansing, but essentially living walls are also libing machines... the concept is a partnership bweteen us, technology and nature and creating dynamic systems that do more, in a synergistic kinda way.... ok links for your R2R: 1) John Todd one of Time Magazine's Heroes of The Planet (A good primer) 2) Dr. Todd's OAI site (Ocean Arcs is one of his orgs.) and finally an AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING BOOK by John and Nancy Todd from eco cities to living machines... it goes the distance this concept.. .our homes our cities everything can become a living machine= )

Wouldn't it be cool if you could make biodiesel from the living machine algea? How's that for recycling?

wouldn't it.... well yeah as you already know, they can make biodiesel from the algaes that bloom off the CO2 emissions from coal-fired electricicty plants, even have some companines doing it, right....

...me what i want is those next gen algaes bred to make hydrogen....

I have read (Wired Mag 12/2005) that Craig Venter is working on that, and has found hydrogen producing critters!
