DJ shows us how to mash up google earth with flava
I really thought that that was it for the ExPan Unofficial Environmental Film Festival. Really I did. But then this morning someone passed this off on me. It's really fringe as far as the eco side, it really isn't eco. It's by a DJ FlavourJenkins, and he's looking for a record lable. So, why do I think that this belongs in the film festival? Well, easy. It's because of the from & content!
FlavourJenkins and his mad pals, Graham Ralls and Jade made this video by MASHING UP GOOGLE.EARTH LIKE NOBODIES BUSINESS! and that may be common place in say, 2008, but it is a first and supa fun to watch. So without further ado-- here's FlavorJenkin's GoogleEarth MashUp!!! |

the unofficial eco film festival #10 the lost TreehuggerTV tape?
OK I usually don't miss a day of the TH, as most of you know. So it is with some surprise that i stumbled across this video. See, a few weeks ago they showed the first TreehuggerTV PSA-style video. They posted it, and asked people what they thought... it got a good response. But i don't remember seeing anything about this video, which is funny, because it's totally different and way better (don't get me wrong, it's supa cute to watch TH owners Graham and Olga in bed drinking beer an dall, but...). This one's is called TreehuggerTV-- Trike Taxi, and it is a happy piece, about this NYC Pedicab company. Full of warmth and fun. Then only thing i didn't get was how do I get a ride with one of these guys if I wanted to? Can't just wait and try to hail one... How do we reach this guy?? And when will TH start publicizing their videos? Fun stuf guys! No need to be shy.... |

GNN broke the mold, they kick ass!
OK, they might not be ecological, but when it comes to the mental environment, GNN have been on the frontlines, working like mad, and bringing millions of people empowering videos and some of the most cutting edge news you will find around. Video visionaries Stephen Marshal, Ian Inaba, my bud Josh Shore, and the ceaseless Anthony Lappé dish out the goods you won't likely find in the MSM, either as articles or as amazing little movies. They are now doing feature docs as well (which apparently are hits at Sundance). If you have yet to experience GNN, The Guerilla News Network, do yourself a favour and check 'em out! Here's two interesting clips; an interview with spin-detector John Stauber, and a piece on them where you get to see what goes behind the scenes and their general philosophy... Enjoy! |

Rex Harril's protrait of the Acres USA annual conference
..what the heck? I figured why not continue the theme of the week, and provide a few more movie links! So get your popcorn ready and check out the most homespun of all the video links we've got. Sure, it's homey, but i think if you haven't been to one of these, Mr. Harril's photo-essay is a great primer to Acres USA (the oldest and largest organic agriculture magazine in America), and their annual conference. Mr. Harril ,a retired organic farmer was invited to speak at the last conference and decided to share his experience. It's warmth is unmistakable and I am glad that he did this, and posted it! Awesome! So, here's the link, just click and watch.... |

looks like it's turned into an impromptu ExPan film festival this week.
Clean Air-Cool Planet, has a series of 30-, 60-, and 90-second video spots for use by individuals and organizations to give the public the information they need to make a decision and take appropriate action on climate change. If you like one, feel free they say, to pass it along to everyone you know...
These are well done PSAs featuring many influential people in the climate world, 11 so far... |

Canada's EkosTV now on the air!
....well I always shy away from saying something is the "first" and just because they say they are, means nothing to me. But really I could care less if its the first or not. What I care about is what do they do? And in this case EkosTV does it, and does it well! So say hello to British Columbia's EkosTV. I am super enjoying it.... They produce a TV show, have multiblogs, and even an online forum. And of course with a name like that and a plug on my LJ, you know what the theme is, right? It's educational, entertaining, and inspiring.... ((they do want you to subscribe ($75/yr gets you hires versions of the show))) but that's not bad....
Exec Producer Rick Searle, Patricia Sims, Prarie Blake and others are busy creating radical easy to swallow TV to help you get your eco-literacy 101. Looking at episode one there's a mix of great and so-so, but even the so-so is pretty good. The great in Episode 1 includes an awesome Eco-Condo, and a series of climate change PSAs done by kids... Searle's personal vblog moment (sitting in a tree) is endearing and unedited, so really honest, but not quite as riveting as the other pieces... still its a pretty amazing show to even exist and wether you want to become a memeber or not, it's totally worth it to check out episode one of EkosTV (oh and hey, no doom and/or gloom!!) |
