There's a new kid in town....
greenoptions
There's a new blog! Just went public today called GreenOptions and it would be really nice if y'all went over there and gave 'em a gander.... to be honest my friend Michael has been sending me snippets of this site-- and background for a few weeks now and it is something. It will grow into something extra special over the weeks, months and years to come... so get used to it!

It has some serious B & C-Listers from the green blogsphere writing and creatin it! Including Jeff Sustainablog, Shea MuseingsofanEcoEnterpreneur, GroovyGreen Michael, EcoGeek Philip, EcoRazzi/GreenerMiami Rebeca, and a host of others.. so perhaps they are aiming to break into Treehugger/WorldChanging/Grist Territory? Will have to wait and see.....

won't nobody drive the million dollar HFC?? [Aug. 3rd, 2006|11:01 pm]

Strange times in Chula Vista CA as no city employees want to drive the Honda FCX fuel cell cause it's just too daunting....
HFCX
So here's the story: Honda gave the City of Chula Vista a sweetheart deal, they got to lease a FCX vehicle for $500 a month. This is a pretty great price considering at this point the cars still cost around $1 million. So, what's hapened is that everyone is afraid of driving the car. Seriously no one wants to be known as the guy who crashed the million dollar car. So even though they have a local electrolizer to refill the fuel cell, and even though the car emits nothing but watter, no one wants it. They offered it to Steve Padilla, Chula Vista mayor, he said thanks but no thanks. Everybody's chicken. Even though any employee can take the car out, even for a quickie spin. No one want to be the guy who crashes it. Except for one bold young employee, yeah, you guessed it; an intern. At least the intern's got style...

Skate for Life! [Apr. 28th, 2006|07:20 pm]

Skateboarders and Stars get the kids all fired up!
Bob
Skateboard Champ Bob Burnquist, actress Daryl Hannah and environmental activist Julia Butterfly Hill were at "Recycle Your Brain" promoting sustainability and skating last weekend in California, at the first in a series of eco events at Whole Foods stores. The event, from the Action Sports Environmental Coalition (Bay Area pro skaters and activists) was to show skate fans how cool being green can be, and to teach the action sports industry the same lesson. While it may seem like an unusual alliance, Burnquist said that adopting a "green" lifestyle is a new way to take risks in a culture dominated by disposability. "Skateboarding is your individual expression, and going to Whole Foods to shop is an expression of your choices as an individual," he said. (ok i do have some issues here, but am going to take the good and shut up). air Lots of corps have tried to sponsor Burnquist, but up till now, he has refused the soft drink and fast food companies bags-of-cash. He and fellow pro skater Danny Way are sponsored by Whole Foods. "I want the industry to change," he said. "I want people to open their eyes to organic cotton and hemp, and stuff like that." Those messages were everywhere last Sunday. Out on the concrete, kids as young as 8 were popping ollies, music blasting out of solar-powered speakers, and kids inspecting a bus that was converted to run on vegetable oil. Kewl!
